Love in Action

Today at church I noticed a family seated in front of us who had a special needs son. We have seen this boy grow into a young man and he was all the time so concerned about his dad sitting next to him. Everytime the father coughed he rubbed his back and kept hugging him. Praise God for this child who has his own limitations but was all the time caring for his father in his own special way. I truly learnt and saw love in action today. ❤❤❤

Captivating Korea September 2016

Visiting Korea was never on my mind. But my good friend Muni whom I first met in 1981 when I joined the civil service suggested we should. Muni is hooked on Korean dramas so she said we must see Korea at least once in a lifetime. So we did with Reliance Travel from the 12th till the 18th of September.

It was a full 7 days of touring that started with landing in Seoul and seeing some sights before we hopped on another plane to Jeju Island. Jeju is a must when visiting Korea as its picturesque with sights of beautiful beaches to mountains. The seafood is great and you can visit the seas where women dive to harvest abalones and oysters. The various galleries and aquaria adds a beautiful touch to Jeju.

From Jeju we went on to visit Pyeonchang , Nami Island home of Winter Sonata, Mt Sorak and we did various activities from making kimchi to cottage cheese to trying out the hanbok. Seoul is a huge vibrant city and very clean and organised. They are famous for their street food and skin products.

It is said that its easy to be a Korean wife and mum as you make kimchi and preserve it and it is served as a dish alongside every meal as a vege with soups and barbequed meats. Well the Korean Barbeque is a must and is a really awesome experience.

Some photos of our Korean experience.

Danang and Hoi Ann Vietnam in August 2016

My first and oldest friend is Sooria. We met on the first day of Standard One in January 1967. Yes 49 years ago and we still meet often for lunch or tea.
Well this year we decided to go on a holiday our very first one. So I booked a 4 days 3 nights trip with Airasiago to Danang and it cost us RM1170 per person with accomodation at the 5 star Melia Danang. You cannot get deals better than that.

We left for Danang on the 12th of August and after a short flight we arrived and checked in to The Melia Danang. This large hotel had beautiful rooms , bars and restaurants and situated at the beach and it was breathtaking. You did not have to leave the hotel at all.

The first day saw us just relaxing in the hotel with happy hours and a seafood barbeque dinner. The Mango Marguerita is a must but the seafood barbeque was not worth it. But my good friend spoke to the manager and we got two meals for the price of one 😂. She is excellent at bargaining.

The second day saw us spending the day in the ancient town of Hoi Ann. A quaint little town by the river rich in culture and history.

On the third day we went for mass at the Danang Cathedral and checked out the local market.

This short holiday was great as it further strengthened our friendship and we planned to celebrate 50 years of friendship next year with a bang hopefully in Greece.

Some pictures of our first holiday together

The room at Melia Danang was great

Chilling by the poolside hat and all

Hoi Ann a must visit when in Danang

This little ancient town by the riverside is a pretty picture

Mass at Danang Cathedral also known as The Pink Cathedral

Prayers at Mother Mary's grotto

Happy hour cocktails by the beach is heavenly

Our last night we had an authentic Vietnamese dinner at this beautiful restaurant in the hotel
