Lent and Holy Week

It is the most beautiful and spritual time for the Catholic Church....we have already gone through 43 days of Lent today...some of us fast , abstain , pray more , sacrifice something we love , read the Bible daily  and many more. As for me I try to abstain from all kinds of meat every Lent because I love meat...and sometimes I can and sometimes I just cannot...but this year I am glad I managed not to be tempted. This year I am also so glad that I volunteer at the Assumption Soup Kitchen to serve the less fortunate..and I also learnt that its just not a matter of giving up something you love..it is also of praying more and spending time with God and His people...it is also about a change of heart that makes you a better person...forgiveness being the main part of it. And during Lent there must be a transformation and this is what makes a Lenten sacrifice fruitful.

Many of us also put on a 'sad and mournful ' face during Lent because our Saviour had to suffer and die for us..so we do not attend functions because gatherings foster having a good time. This Lent I had a few weddings to attend and birthday parties of loved ones..and I said to myself my God is not going to get angry with me because I am going out of love for these people...so I went and spent time with these friends of ours. And on Palm Sunday after mass , David and I had to take a couple who had come down from Australia to Malacca for the day and we felt good because we did something good for our friends. And yesterday  I had to attend a Graduation Recital of a young lady at her college and she being a Catholic reminded me that it was during Holy Week but I assured her I would come and support her...and she was just so happy I had gone to see her perform...and her parents were so thankful for the love and support too...and I am glad I went. So I feel that Jesus does not want us to 'mourn' but to go out there and do good for His people and make them happy..as He always wants His people to be happy.

Its Holy Thursday today and as a family we go to mass and then we go to a few different churches to stay awhile to pray..and then  tomorrow we celebrate Good Friday by going to service....and Saturday is the day we prepare for Easter Sunday..the most important celebration of the church and spend it together as a family with going to mass and a home cooked meal of our favourite dishes. These few days is the most beautiful time a family can spend together , to pray and appreciate our Lord's sacrifice for us and to celebrate His Resurrection. As I always say  I am glad I am a Cathoilc to experience the different liturgical seasons of the Catholic Church.

All I can say is  that what I learn from Lent and always ...is to remain a good person and we are to spend our life doing good for people never being envious of anyone..and always putting our faith in Christ first ahead of anything else in our life...and then you find everything else is put in place.

Blessed Holy Week and a Blessed Easter to my beautiful family and loved ones.
