On the chalk cliffs of the Seven Sisters |
Yesterday was another beautiful morning on a Sunday and first things first we attended 8.30 mass at St Joseph's Church in Bracknell...beautiful church and beautiful sermon by the priest who reminded us that today in Rome Pope John Paul 11 was to be beatified towards sainthood.
After mass we headed towards Ascot , the beautiful town that houses the famous race course and this year the course is 300 years old. We went for our first ever car boot sales there which England is well known for...there were all sorts of stuff being sold...from food to ceramics to books and even a Rolls Royce car ! Browsed around for about 3 hours and bought a few pieces of crockery made in England and it was quite a treat to go for one of the best car boot sales in the region. Then we headed home for a quick lunch and we were out in an hour.
We headed for the seaside town of Brighton and as we approached the town after a 2 hour drive it was filled with people as the weather was fine and everyone was out for the day....because English weather is so unpredictable everyone takes advantage of a good day. And the town also came alive with a London-Brighton Run for some very old vehicles which was a treat for David who just stood in one place to take photos. We made our way to the carnival area at The Pier where Simone went on a few rides and I did some souvenier shopping....magnets of course.
On the way home we stopped at the Seven Sisters , a row of chalk cliffs facing the English Channel between Seaford and Eastbourne in Southern England in the county of Sussex. Amazing views of the sea but the winds were so cold that after a few photos I had to run off to the car. On the way home after a drive through the beautiful countryside we had dinner of fish and chips at a restaurant in New Haven ...and we reached home at about 10.30pm after a full day out....and we did do so much in a day...with images that are etched in my mind.
