On the 15th of May 2011...we had a lovely breakfast at the hotel and headed of to the central station to take a train to Duomo station. In the train there were all kinds of people and we were forced to speak in Bahasa...a language I personally do not like..but we just had to. And in between we spoke in English and the people standing around us kept wondering what language we were speaking. And of course we had Italian nicknames for ourselves...Mel was Bambino meaning baby....David was Uomo Antico meaning old man...and me Morgilo Grasso meaning fat wife...so you can imagine what people really thought when we spoke our language with these names!!
When we arrived at the Duomo Station and walked up the stairs to get to Duomo Square...and at the top of the stairs..we were amazed at what we saw...The Duomo Cathedral...standing majestically....surrounded by scores of people. The Cathedral was completed in 1836 after 500 years of building it. Yes it took that long and you wonder why...the architecture...the sculptures and figurines carved onto the walls...all spoke a biblical story. There were thousands of figurines on it and photos that follow will explain it better. We stood outside and took several photos...and with people hassling you with stuff they want to sell...but all that did not matter as The Cathedral takes your sight away from these peddlars. We went inside still in awe and were greeted by ancient paintings , sculptures and numerous stained glass windows. We lit candles and prayed for loved ones....and sat at the various chapels and prayed...and there were so many people walking all over just looking in amazement and some praying. after about an hour in the Cathedral we decided to go on the tour bus...City Sightseeing Milano...to catch other sights of this city.

During the tour we noticed that the old buildings and architecture were not as amazing as the buildings in Paris...but the tour showed us the real Milan...the Italian cafes and restaurants....Smart cars on the road. There were lots of shopping streets though ..but not all the men and women were fashionable...but there of course were a lot of Italian brands to boast...Massimo Dutti...Valentino...Ferragamo...Max Mara to name a few. And of course Milan houses one of the oldest shopping centre in the world...The Galleria Vittoria Emmanuelle 11....with brands like Louis Vuitton and Prada. The Castello Sforzesco or the Sforza Castle is a castle in Milan City that used to be the seat and residence of the Duchy of Milan and one of the biggest citadels in Europe and now houses several of the city's museums and art collections.

After the tour we were really tired and we headed back to our hotel and we got off at the Central Station and went for dinner at an Italian Restaurant...as Mel wanted to treat us. Then we headed back to our hotel and rested for the night. We had many visions of Milan but for me it is just another big city with only one main attraction...The Duomo Cathedral.
