Stockton On Tees and Dad

The first time I heard about Stockton On Tees is when David's sister married John an English lad and he came from this town thta is in the north east of England about 400km from London. And David and I had been to this small town on several ocassions to visit John's Dad and Mum. But Mel had not and we wanted to visit John Senior or just Dad to us and Grandad to Mel and Andrew. So as decided as part of our adventure we set off to Stockton at 8.00am in the Proton Gen 2 loaned to us by Proton UK on Sunday the 8th 0f May 2011.

We drove on the M25 ( the outer ring road of London ) that brought us to the M1 that was leading north. We passed many towns and we stopped at Northampton for a short break and carried on. Passed by the towns of Nottingham , Sheffield and Leeds and we stopped outside of Leeds for lunch at about 1.30pm. Had a beautiful chicken tikka and rice...wow that was just great. Then we set off again and we arrived at Dad's house at 147 Piper Knowle Road at about 3.00pm. And Dad was looking as handsome as ever at 84 as he did when we met him in 2006 in Perth Australia for Mel's Graduation.

When we went into the house we were surprised to see it as beautiful as ever and it was adorned with photos of Siobhan..David's sister's daughter...and Dad's only grandchild. We were shown to our rooms which were so beautifully decorated and comfortable...to think Dad lives alone and manages the house so well eversince Mum passed on in 2000. We chatted and it was so great to hear Dad and his stories.

We decided that we will order in some Chinese food as it was too cold to go out for a meal. The food arrived and it was such big portions and it was very tasty. After chatting a little while more we were off to bed as Dad was taking us to Whitby the next morning. Slept soundly in the beautiful English beds of the Finley home.
